Slip rings are very practical electrical components that help to simplify a system and increase its efficiency. In the previous article, we looked at some slip ring applications. And this time, we will take a closer look at how slip rings function in large-scale applications.
Most construction machines such as winches, cranes and vehicles use slip rings to ensure full functionality of lifting arms or other rotary parts of the system, while providing signal transmission. There are many special slip rings with a through hole designed for such a purpose. Through-hole design, also known as hollow shaft design, offers an excellent platform for further integration. Similar to those electronic systems that relate to the hydraulic mechanism, the through-hole slip ring is integrated with the hydraulic module.
Similar applications can be seen on shipbuilding machinery as well as on an advanced palletized propeller system for ships. As seen in ABS solutions, slip rings with housing design and modular structure are favored. The metal housing provides additional protection for the slip ring assembly. Thanks to the integrated swivel connection, this slip ring solution allows the passage of liquid and gas. The high power slip ring provides ample drive to the palletized propeller. By allowing the propeller to adjust its angle of inclination, the slip ring also plays a role in getting data back to the processing center.
When it comes to theme park entertainment facilities, slip rings are also key components. For facilities such as carousels, slip rings rotate the turntable while simultaneously transmitting sound and sensor signals that contribute to excellent and safe entertainment. In such solutions, slip rings inherit the characteristics of those used in the industrial field. They are typically integrated large current slip rings with Ethernet signaling channels. The characteristics as such allow slip rings to load high power and transmit signals in an efficient and reliable way.
