As a widely used component in various industries, slip rings have a wide range of applications. JINPAT, an experienced slip ring manufacturer, offers thousands of different types of slip rings for various industries. Among these industries, the film and television production industry is a relatively niche industry with less demand for slip rings. In the film and television industry, slip rings are mainly used in film production and auxiliary equipment such as photo booths, portable professional stabilizers and other DIY accessories. In addition, in high-definition television broadcasting installations, slip rings are used in systems such as the Fei Mao system and OB (Outside Broadcasting) TV vans.

Take professional stabilizers for example, their yaw axis can rotate 360 ​​degrees in combination with the pitch and roll axes, allowing the equipment attached to the camera to take various desired shots. A special miniature slip ring is installed inside the yaw axis of professional stabilizers. The slip rings supplied by JINPAT for such stabilizers belong to the LPMS series, with a range of 8 to 15 loops. Models include LPMS-08D, LPMS-10C, LPMS-12U, LPMS-15, etc. These products have a maximum diameter of 7.4 mm and are controlled within a minimum of 5.5 mm. Compared with the slip rings used in other auxiliary photographic equipment, those used in portable professional stabilizers are simple in both function and design.

Photography booms are used to support heavier professional photographic equipment. Many booms are equipped with heavy-duty stabilizers, which also require slip ring support. The slip rings developed by JINPAT for photo booms are mainly based on the standard partial LPM and LPC1C products. The standard LPM series can transmit power, supporting the mixed transmission of simple signals and currents, but it does not support the transmission of high-definition video signal. On the other hand, the LPC1C series integrates the single-channel LPCC series, which can transmit high-definition video signals up to 12G-SDI. If there is a market demand for transmitting more than one channel of high-definition video signals, JINPAT’s LPHF series high-frequency slip rings are an ideal choice. By replacing the external coaxial line with a 75Ω cable, these slip rings can transmit 12G-SDI signals. Therefore, the LPHF series high-frequency slip rings are an ideal tool for transmitting multiple channels of 12G-SDI signals in DIY equipment for the film and TV industry.

When shooting in a photo studio, proper lighting setup is crucial to get the perfect shot. In addition to fixed lighting, lighting equipment needs to be designed from time to time to help with photography. For example, on the set of the movie “The Wandering Earth 2”, the crew designed a large turntable for spotlights to simulate the required ambient lighting. A slip ring is installed in the center of the turntable. Since the turntable is manually controlled, there is no need to add control signal paths to the slip ring used, simplifying the design and reducing costs. Due to the high power of the spotlights, slip rings with standard holes that can carry 15A current are used to meet the requirements. The specific number of circuits and hole sizes can be selected based on practical considerations.
