Excavators are one of the most common types of construction equipment in people’s eyes. As large construction equipment with a body and chassis that can rotate relatively endlessly, they also require support in the form of slip rings. The most common slip ring on excavators is the pneumohydraulic slip ring, which is mounted on the chassis and often used in conjunction with the excavator’s hydraulic plunger pump to supply high-pressure hydraulic fluid during rotary operations. To supply hydraulic fluid at higher pressures, these pneumohydraulic slip rings are typically made of stainless steel for durability. Depending on horsepower or tonnage, the size of the gas and fluid passages in these slip rings may vary slightly.
JINPAT, as a professional slip ring manufacturer, has an experienced team specialized in developing slip rings for engineering equipment, and is able to develop pneumohydraulic slip rings for excavators. For excavators, pneumohydraulic slip rings can be installed not only on excavators but also in other locations. This is limited to some special versions of excavators that replace the bucket with other functional equipment, such as clamshell grapples and some specialty machines with a fully rotating chassis. These machines with chassis and bodies capable of rotating relative to each other are almost always equipped with hydraulic plunger pumps and pneumohydraulic slip rings.
Since modern excavators are hydraulically driven, pneumohydraulic slip rings capable of withstanding high pressure are used to solve the problem of high-pressure oil transmission. In some models of excavators from certain manufacturers, electric slip rings are also mounted on the chassis, although these electric slip rings are usually only found on small or mini excavators. JINPAT has developed various models of electrical slip rings for such small excavators that have an internal anti-vibration design and use materials for the outer housing similar to those of pneumohydraulic slip rings, typically high-strength steel. In addition to the above cases, JINPAT has also developed pneumohydraulic electric integrated slip rings for these types of equipment.
Due to increasingly stringent global emission regulations, the trend towards electrification will inevitably extend to mechanical engineering. As part of this trend, in addition to pneumohydraulic slip rings for hydraulic oil transmission, pneumohydraulic electric integrated slip rings and high-current integrated slip rings may also gain market share. Some manufacturers may prefer to use external power sources instead of diesel engines to drive excavator equipment. This approach involves integrating an armored cable reel into the utility equipment, with the slip ring serving as a component embedded in the reel to support current transfer while the utility equipment is in motion.
