Legged robots imitate the movements of human or animal legs and can therefore move steadily on bumpy roads and even in dangerous conditions. Legged robots have advantages over robots due to their superior biomechanical design. And to ensure the flexible movement of the joint when transmitting various sensor signals, electric slip rings are required. With the help of electric slip rings and rotary joints, legged robots can be used in rescue work, demining and other conditions, replacing human labor.

JINPAT Electronics has developed many slip ring solutions for various robot applications. To meet the requirements of biped robots, JINPAT’s R&D team also spares no effort to create the best solution. To meet the super compact and lightweight design of the legged robot, JINPAT Electronics recommends using capsule slip rings and miniature slip rings. The JINPAT LPS single slip ring, which has no housing and is very compact, is also a good choice for such an application.

And to be precise, most legged robots have a strong need to transmit optical signals from the optical receiver to the processing sensor. Therefore, an integrated optical slip ring is also preferred. With the combined transmission of power, signals and optical signal, JINPAT slip rings enable the legged robot to move smoothly and elegantly while transmitting key signals.

And let’s take a look at one of our practical examples – LPMS-06B-06S. LPMS-06B-06S is a super miniature slip ring with a diameter of only 8.5mm and a length of 14.2mm. There are 4 power supply channels and 2 analog signal channels. This ultra-small slip ring is suitable for legged robots with limited installation space and strict weight restrictions. Another mature solution is the LPM-30 branch. Slip rings in this encoding combine up to 30 channels, and considering the relatively large structure, the miniature LPM slip ring is able to integrate various types of slip rings, such as high-definition video signals, CAN, USB and GND, etc. JINPAT Electronics is an expert in the R&D, production and sales of slip rings.
