Such types of ships include luxury cruise ships, aircraft carriers, liquefied natural gas carriers, FPSOS, research vessels and other types of special ships. On these special ships, many subsystems require slip ring support. Taking the slip ring used on civil ships as an example, the slip ring used in FPSO mooring systems has the highest technical performance among traditional slip rings. They are designed to transport high-pressure flammable gases and crude oil, as well as power transmission lines of various subsea systems. Therefore, they must meet the appropriate levels of explosion protection and protection. Multiple functions mean multiple components, and the design is also very complex.

Fiber optic slip ring inherits all the characteristics of fiber optic transmission, and the interference from the strong electric field generated by the slip ring box can be completely ignored. In addition to the most common marine cranes, many ships such as research vessels and cruise ships are now using outboard full-rotation electric thrusters. In marine full-rotation electric thrusters, slip rings are also an important component.
