Slip rings are components that enable the transmission of energy and signals during 360° rotation. They are categorised into different types based on differences in their appearance and function. Because of the varied practices of engineers in different fields, slip rings have been given different names, one of which is ‘fusion ring’. Generally, fusion rings are multi-functional or multi-module integrated slip rings, usually combining functions such as power signal integration, liquid and gas integration, optical fibre integration with power signal, power signal integration and high frequency integration, among others. As an industry pioneer, JINPAT has strong technological capabilities in developing multi-functional integrated slip rings.
The choice of product structure is strongly influenced by the different functions of the confuser rings. For example, confuser rings that must transmit high power require a carbon brush structure. If fibre optics, fluids or other electrical signal transmission modules are integrated, the size of the product will increase significantly. However, there is a significant demand for miniaturised coupling rings in various microelectromechanical applications. Nevertheless, in these applications, the transmission through the coupling rings is usually by weak electrical signals, and there are strict limitations on the size and weight of components such as slip rings.
Within JINPAT’s product development, capsule slip rings have the widest range of applications. This series is divided into three categories based on diameter differences: the LPC medium-sized series, the LPM miniature series, and the LPMS ultra miniature series. Due to their widespread use, standard and customised capsule product models far exceed the total production of other slip ring types. Using capsule products as a basis, JINPAT has developed precision integrated confuser rings for several models. However, due to the reduced size of the slip rings, these integrated rings can perform relatively fewer functions.
For example, the LPMS-08D-0401-E2 is the smallest pin ring with integrated Ethernet signal developed by JINPAT (φ5.5 mm × 13.5 mm, weight less than 10 g).It is probably the smallest Ethernet signal interconnect ring on the market with such a diameter. LPMS-08D products can also be upgraded to support 1-channel USB 2.0 and 1-channel 100m Ethernet signal. SDI signals are also commonly used in ultra-miniature fusion rings. These fusion rings can be installed in the optical systems of small military and police equipment for signal and power transmission. Among the confluence rings developed by JINPAT, products based on LPMS-12U (φ6.5 mm×17.4 mm) are the most representative in the ultraminiature category.Typical products include LPS-12U-02-05 SD 1, LPMS-12U-0901-SD 1, IPMS-12 UHD 01-08 S and others.
